Additionally, he is a former executive producer, history teacher and event planner who was endorsed by the Orlando Sentinel in his campaign for state legislature, in which the media called him a "rising star." He is the subject of a documentary titled The Millennials and was a guest lecturer at the Poynter Institute.
Thompson is a graduate of the University of Central Florida, a fifth-generation Central Florida resident and member of the South Lake Chamber of Commerce, where he serves on the government policy committee.
